Property Description

This beautifully restored, 3-bedroom, one bath condo with a 600 sf private veranda and two parking spaces (one deeded and one assigned), is in the Historic William Robb house at 12 Bee St. The current owners took the bath down to studs and totally renovated it (new plumbing and electric) granite counters, a curved tub and tub enclosure, and beautiful tile flooring. They added a bar in the living area, with a wine cooler and under counter refrigerator, granite counter and beautiful glass shelves. The original flooring has been lovingly restored to its original beauty. High ceilings, original glass windows, a gorgeous efficient kitchen, a combination washer/dryer and an amazing 600 sf covered veranda, make this condo a must see and a must have. Conveniently located near MUSC & RoperHospitals, and many restaurants.
The William Robb house is a three story Classical Greek Revival brick house built in 1858 by William Robb, a prosperous Rice Miller. The house was constructed on one of the few natural high points in the area. The last private owner was Congressman George Swinton Legare, who lived in the house until his death in 1913.
In 1920, the interior was remodeled for use as Mercy Maternity Hospital. It was at this time that an interior elevator was added and a new fountain featuring a five-foot stork sculpture was constructed for the front entrance. In 1983, the building was converted into apartments and the house was listed in the National Register.
